West Pokot has three MPs, two of them elected on the Orange Democratic Movement ticket and one on ODM-Kenya which has changed to Wiper Democratic Movement.
Rev Julius Murgor, Kapenguria
Until 2007 when he plunged into active politics, Rev Julius Murgor, an assistant minister in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, was the chairman of West Pokot region African Inland church.
But he left the church to form Pokot Outreach Ministries after falling out with its head Bishop Silas Yego.
Through Pokot Outreach Ministries, he initiated many development projects including water provision and education in West Pokot and East Baringo.
He joined politics in 2007 and floored former assistant minister Samuel Moroto.
Wilson Litole, Sigor
The third MP to represent the constituency, Mr Litole captured the seat on an ODM ticket in the 2007 General Election defeating Mr Philip Rotino.
Before joining politics, Mr. Litole served in the provincial administration for nearly 20 years rising to the rank of DC.
Samuel Poghisio, Kacheliba
The Information and Communications minister is the senior most politician in the county. He has served the constituency for 20 years.
He was first elected on Kanu ticket in 1988 but served for only six months before being expelled from the party.
He was to stay out of politics until 1997 when he was re-elected. He has declared that he will contest the senate seat in the next elections.
