Rock stars have a motto. Live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse.
From the surface, it looks pretty harmless and funny but when you look at how rock stars meet their end, the maxim rings true.
They come, they entertain and before you know it they are dead.
But there is never really a beautiful corpse, just a mangled wreck of a has-been.
Musicians always have an end that is scripted. They either overdose, mix drugs or crash in high speed leaving behind memories of a light dimmed before its time.
The 27 Club is an exclusive club for popular musicians who all died at the age of 27 like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.
Many others do not belong to that club but their ending was true to the motto.
Micheal Jackson died at 50 after his doctor injected him with a powerful dose of propofol.
Propofol is a sedative usually administered to patients who are undergoing surgery or another medical procedure.
It is a fast-acting drug, with most patients receiving it losing consciousness within a matter of seconds.
Most of these stars die young, way young, and one would expect those stars left behind would think about their lives and their desire to see their children grow or at least to bask in their own limelight years after they hang up the mic.
The latest is the death of Whitney Houston and although it will take days before the results of a postmortem are released, it is said that the LA County Coroner officials told the family that she did not die from drowning as earlier reported after her head was found submerged, but rather from what appeared to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol.
“We’re told Coroner’s officials informed the family there was not enough water in Whitney’s lungs to lead to the conclusion that she drowned,” reported TMZ.
“Our sources say the family was told Whitney may well have died before her head became submerged.”
Whitney’s battle with drugs is public knowledge and other reports claim she reeked of alcohol and cigarettes and “skipping around the ballroom in a child-like fashion and wandering aimlessly about the lobby”.
She has left a teenage daughter behind who family now fears may be suicidal.
While her death was shocking, many had a feeling that drugs would be her end after her battle with crack cocaine for years.
Amy Winehouse was another star whose death did not come unexpectedly.
