When was the last time a Kenyan housemate at the Big Brother House was a major talking point and split debate the way Prezzo has?
It’s OK, I will wait, take your time! Well, I don’t have a lot of time so I will just go ahead and break the news to you. No one! Nada, Gutiri, hakuna...
For the longest time, Kenyans have been complaining about how the good guys at Multichoice have been selecting contestants who were boring and didn’t know how to play the game at the house.
Until CMB Prezzo landed into the house and making sure his goodies shared in continental glory, we had Sheila Kwamboka but she will have to play second fiddle because I don’t think there is anybody more annoying or exciting – depending on who you ask – in the Big Brother House than Prezzo.
What I find hilarious is, the reaction from Kenyans mostly when they watch or hear about what he is up to because people are used to this arrogant rich dude who slurs as he speaks and when he raps, is either saying stuff like “Nawapenda wooo or For Sho’ Shizzle...”
When they see Jackson Makini, they get shocked and if you ask me, love the guy even more. There is one thing Prezzo knows, and that is create hype and bask in the glory.
I am not saying getting drunk, belittling a woman and picking fights in the house is good, no, but that is how the show is set up, everyone writes their own script.
There is no celebrity in Kenya who knows the value of publicity than this rapper. It doesn’t matter whether you think he can rap or not, he is happy knowing that you have his name on your mouth.
You know him and he is even happier when he makes you have an opinion about him, for a rapper or a celebrity for that matter, that is important.
I have interacted with him and he is never bothered about what people say unless like Jaguar, you say he doesn’t have money. He will spend you to under a table to prove you wrong.
I was shocked that he decided to try out Big Brother because he never looked like such a person but from what I am seeing, he went there to take his brand Africa wide and if I am not wrong, he knows what to do with the fame when he leaves the house.
He is in that house knowing that Jaguar is watching and talking smack about him. But he knows there is nothing like bad publicity and no matter how much Jaguar talks, he knows he has a bigger and better platform to farther his career.
I also like what Jaguar is doing. Asking people to vote for Prezzo because he needs the money more than he does.
That was a good punchline and it got him some mileage. These two know how to play the publicity game and even though theirs is pure hatred for each other, they do it well.
Since Prezzo is busy in the house saying how he’s never heard of Kigeugeu, Jaguar is also at home trying to belittle his fellow rapper.
The test of this whole show will be what both rappers do with the fame be it continental or national. Either way, keep at it boys but let it not get out of hand.
