Kibaki guard moved in major police changes

A senior Presidential Escort Unit officer is among 121 police officers transferred in the latest reshuffle announced Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent of Police John Kizito Mutoro, who has been a permanent fixture on President Kibaki’s escort team, will now serve as the Officer Commanding Meru South Police Division.

Seven Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), 29 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and 85 Superintendents of Police (SPs) have also been redeployed

Six female Superintendent of Police officers have also been moved.

The reshuffle, which takes effect immediately, was announced after four days of deliberation by the Kenya Police's highest decision making panel, known in the force as "Board One".

The officers should report to their new stations by March 28 after handing over their previous responsibilities.

The changes are meant to reorganise the Force and improve service delivery as the country moves towards a general election in 2012.
