Eleven people were killed Thursday morning in Kibusu village, Tana River County in what authorities say is a revenge attack.

Many others were injured during the 7am attack when armed Ormas attacked the Pokomo village.

Area chief Amuma Mkala and councillor Babuya Komora confirmed the attack.

The leaders said the Orma had attacked Kibusu village in a retaliatory attack after six of their own were killed in Nduru village Wednesday.

Among the dead were five children.

However, police fear the death toll could rise.
