Education minister Mutula Kilonzo is releasing the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results in Nairobi.

A total of 437,000 candidates sat the examinations last year and are anxiously waiting for the announcement.

In 2011, 411,783 students sat the tests in which boys have consistently dominated the top positions.

Out of the top 10 positions nationally, boys took seven while girls managed only three.

Nalianya K. Job, then of St Peter’s Seminary in Eldoret, emerged the best student, followed by Gikonyo Victor Gitau and Odhiambo Emmanuel, both from Alliance High School.

The top girl was Lonyangapuo Chelagat, formerly of Alliance Girls High School.
