Pathologists commence Mutula postmortem

A team of seven pathologists is in the process of conducting a postmortem to ascertain the cause of the death of senator Mutula Kilonzo after it was postponed on Monday when the late senator's family opted for a pathologist from the United Kingdom, Dr Calder Ian Maddison to lead the procedure.
Dr Calder Ian Maddison arrived at Lee Funeral Home at 12.17 pm and was briefed by the lead pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor.
Dr Ian -an independent witness at first autopsies in UK and abroad, and a conductor of second autopsies on instruction - arrived aboard KQ at 6.20am and his licence to practice was scrutinized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board before being licenced to render services.
The licence is valid for ten months, up to December 3, and only allows him to render services at the Lee.
Dr Ian is a consultant pathologist and occupational physician, has doctorate of Medicine (MD) and Science (DSc), and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), and Pathologists (FRCP).
He also has Diploma in Medical Jurisprudence (DMJ), Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FFOM).
He is an expert in areas of trauma and its pathological effects on the body, forensic medicine in the context of sudden and unexpected death, diseases and death in relation to the working environment, hospital procedures resulting in misadventures and death.
