Controversial Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu is being held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by police.

A police officer who spoke to the Nation on condition that he is not named because he is not authorised to speak to the press said the businessman was awaiting deportation.

In April, Mr Chinedu was charged with possessing two weighing scales and polythene wrappers believed to be used in preparing narcotics.

The equipment was allegedly found in his Kileleshwa apartment on April 13.

He was also charged with denying anti-narcotics police entry into his house, using a forged Nigerian passport and being in Kenya illegally.

Mr Chinedu shot to the limelight two years ago when he successfully blocked his deportation and lodged property cases against his estranged wife Joyce Akinyi.
