Kenya’s ‘oldest man’ dies at district hospital

Mzee Elijah Kiptoo Chepkilot, featured by the Daily Nation in July this year as the oldest man in Kenya has died.

Mzee Chepkilot who was born in Baringo District in 1893, died at Valley Hospital in Nakuru Town after witnessing more than a century roll past.

He lived to see more than 80 grandchildren and 200 great grandchildren.

His grandchildren include Kabarak University Registrar Dr R.K Chepkilot and Siaya DC Boaz Cherutich.

The farmer had outlived his wives and all villagers at Kaiso where he will be buried on Saturday.
