Senior officers also demanded to hear over the phone as their juniors interrogated suspects, before pronouncing “death sentences.” Hours before Mr Kiriinya was shot, a close friend and colleague had visited him at the safe house he had been moved to at the commission’s expense.
The visitor
His wife, who overheard the conversation, reported that the visitor had requested they meet later at Nairobi's Sarit Centre. Mr Kiriinya had obliged.
He was shot as he walked back to the house after meeting the officer. His mobile phones were taken away. Two hit men, as witnesses reported, took off on foot. They sped off in a get-away car that had been waiting almost a kilometre away.
Mr Kiriinya’s confession, according to KNCHR, was corroborated by three other officers. Their identity remains a secret, guarded by the commission in fear they too, could be eliminated.
KNCHR regards people who volunteer crucial information as whistleblowers and shelters them, together with their families, in safe houses.
The Attorney General’s office is yet to roll out a programme to offer safety for key witnesses, even after the Government set aside Sh20 million for the programme in this year’s budget.

There is nothing new about what our so called security forces are doing. They have been doing this for ever. Killing innocent Kenyans have been their bread and butter.KNCHR should not have shown the face nor given the names of the whistleblower. There are ways of hiding the identity of informers.Bravo KNCHR you gave the trigger happy security forces a target of opportunity. Don't say you did not see this coming!!

Martial Law by Knyan Law Enforcement is nothing new. They smoke PPL out daily and plant evidence on them to show that they are guilty of a crime that does not exist. Most of our Law enforcement officils are corrupt and ill mannered/rough mannered criminals that should not be manning our security. It is rethoric and sarcastic to set a gang of hungry looter/Buglar/police to watch on a piece of steak, they will go at any length to serve their own intrest. Caleb Mauti.

Brethren, if you’ve encountered mungiki and have seen what they are capable of doing i think you will have no mercy for these killers. From a previous paper Mungiki have organised themselves military style with battalions, units, companies platoons just like the army. One of their platoons is called Bagdad and others have names that sends chill down your spines. When one has wants to invest in this country mungiki has to be in the budget in the name of protection fee woe unto you if you don’t do so.

Syindumyaki quite agree with you. KNCHR blundered big time after receiving vital information from an eye witness and yet they provided him inadequate protection. They can kiss goodbye any future sources of information.

The Devil is finally crying foul... It is strange that the mungiki have the guts to complain yet they have been know to commit some henious crimes and kill mercilessly... Infact those who are complaining should be arrested for being members of an illegal sect..They are the llst people that deserve mercy.. I dont simpathise with them However, I still dont support Murder.. Teh Police should also be held accountable for these murders
