Has anybody understood what is happening - between local and imported maize and the different pricings? I am lost on this one. Somebody should come out and clear the air - the PM or Kibaki. Kangundo MP is posing the right questions.

one way of lowering the price of grain is by licensing another grain handling firm at the port so as to encourage competition a the moment the one that is licensed is exploiting kenyans because it has no natural rival

I don't get it. Farmers asked for 2500/- per 90 kg bag of maize, yet the government is willing to import maize for over 3800/- per bag...this smacks of stupidity, selfishness and corruption. How could local maize have caused price of maize flour to rise beyond ordinary Kenyans' budgets?

Hon Muthama, where have u just come from ? There is serious food shortage in Kenya, tell us where the cheap maize is sitting pretty? As a leader , u never seem to have anything substantive for Kenyans.
