PCK board names new Postmaster General

The Postal Corporation of Kenya has a new Postmaster General.

Mrs Ado Alkama, the Human Resources general manager at Posta, has been appointed to the position in an acting capacity.

A press release from Posta said her appointment has been borne out of the fact that she has solid experience and will provide continuity and leadership.

"Ado Alkama brings on board 25 years experience in the postal sector coupled with strong leadership skills that will help drive PCK forward as it delivers on the strategic objectives of the organisation, said board chairman Mr Cyrus Maina.

"In selecting Ado, the Board considered her excellent capability in human resource management and development, which will be of great significance to staff, business partners and customers as Posta undergoes this transition."

Mrs Alkama becomes the first woman to take up the role in Posta's history.

Her appointment comes only days after the former Postmaster General Odhiambo was sacked over the postapay saga that also claimed senior managers.
