Kenya investigates new H1N1 flu case

Kenya on Wednesday sent one more case for further investigations for the H1N1 flu virus.
Public Health Minister Beth Mugo told a news conference that the affected person had arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the morning and was being held in an isolation ward at the Kenyatta National Hospital in the city.
If confirmed, this would be the second case of H1N1 in Kenya after a British student tested positive on Monday.
Mrs Mugo was addressing a press conference at the Kisumu Airport, on the shores of the Lake Victoria, after leading senior ministry officials on a fact finding tour of Kisumu where the country’s first confirmed case was discovered.
The British student is part of a team of 33 university students who arrived in the country last week for a medical camp in the outskirts of Kisumu town.
The team, who included PS Mark Bor and the Head of Disease Surveillance response Charles Nzioka, visited the Duke of Breeze hotel where the UK students are being confined to avoid further spread of the virus.
The minister also visited Alendu Primary and Secondary Schools in Nyando constituency and the Hovic Children’s home where the students visited.
She said that the 34 UK students would be leaving the country on Saturday back to their country. They are currently undergoing treatment with Tamiflu.
