President Kibaki has reappointed Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera as director of Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission for a further five-year period.

In a gazette notice, President Kibaki appointed Justice Ringera to serve for a period of five years with effect from 8th September 2009.

Also reappointed in the gazette notice are assistant directors Mrs Fatuma Sichale and Mr Smokin Wanjala.

Mrs Sichale will continue serving as the assistant Director Legal Services while Mr Wanjala remains the Assistant Director Preventive Services.

Both Mrs Sichale and Mr Wanjala will serve for a period of four years

The antigraft commission is a public body created under the Kenya's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act

The agency has been under criticism for unsatisfactory performance, despite the huge salaries its senior staff are entitled to. There has been public discontent over how the agency has handled corruption cases.

In June this year, Members of Parliament threatened to move in and cut down the salaries paid to its directors.
