In Summary

  • Relationship between Kenya and the US remains one of the biggest partnerships in Africa, says Ranneberger.

“Even as we speak, change is happening. Change can happen more rapidly than anyone thinks but only with the right push and support from citizens,” he said.

The only way our leaders can listen to us is if we have something to threaten them with. The western world uses aid and travelling bans, we can use the vote. Until we realize we have the power united, we will always make noise like empty debes to no avail.

President Obama in Ghana read us the riot act but none of the leaders took him seriously .Our leaders especially the 15 must visit Ghana to learn a few lessons or two on good governance

If as Kenyans we really want other people to 'just shut up', then we must first learn to feed ourselves. But as long as we still hold those empty bowls, begging for freebies from others, we MUST accept to be lectured, period.

Do our leaders listen to us Kenyans? At least they have to listen to the US Ambassador and Washington. We, ordinary Kenyans, should leverage that voice for our benefit.

Sometimes I wonder whether its naivety or simply a political cultural weakness. You read/hear statements that "misleading Kenyans" now "misadvising Obama". I believe there are many sources of information upon which one can base own judgment without waiting to be misadvicd or misled. It is an open secret that we have made little progress on agenda 4, and delay on new constitution is because of selfish political interests. These are not agendas for American interests but Kenyans.
