He went on; “In this connection, I call upon the international community to focus attention on these issues, to enable us overcome these challenges, including mobilising resources to finance the implementation of priority health programmes.”

Prof Nyong’o on his part appealed to the government to set aside more funds in the budget to finance health programmes.

“Setting aside more resources towards achieving this goal is indeed very important if we are to succeed in providing adequate healthcare to all,” he said.

Similar sentiments were made by Mrs Mugo. “We need higher budgets to be devoted to the health sector in order to tackle the various health related challenges affecting us,” said the Public Health minister.

She also appealed to governments in developing countries especially, to prioritise the war against the negative effects of climate change in order wipe out such diseases as malaria from the region.
