Fake cards man denies charge

A European man whose nationality is yet to be established has been charged with stealing Sh126,000 after he was arrested two days ago over fake credit cards.
Mr Robert Schumann on Friday denied two counts of stealing from a bank and being illegally in Kenya.
The chief magistrate Gilbert Mutembei ordered the accused to be remanded until January 19, 2010, when he will be produced for further directions.
Meanwhile, the Russian Embassy yesterday denied claims that the man is their citizen.
Ambassador Valery Yegoshkin, in a press statement, dismissed reports that the man, who had identified himself as a Russian diplomat, as he was not in possession of neither a diplomatic identification card nor a passport to prove his citizenship.
Guards caught the man withdrawing cash at CFC Stanbic Bank’s automated teller machine lobby in the city. He had fake credit cards.
