Mudavadi to face court in house row

Talks among lawyers of Local Government minister Musalia Mudavadi, Nairobi City Council and the anti-corruption agency to resolve a dispute over a house have stalled.
Consequently, the hearing of the case in which Mr Mudavadi has been sued over illegal allocation of the house will now proceed in court.
State counsel Francis Gikonyo told Lady Justice Kalpana Rawal that the council had been frustrating the talks as they sought to recover the house and settle the matter out of court.
“Failure by the council to perform its part means continued possession of the suit property by the minister. When we were entering into negotiations we were hopeful that since he is the minister (for Local Government) things would have worked as they ought to,” a State counsel told the court.
The counsel said failure by the council to honour the negotiations derailed the talks and repossession of the house made difficult.
Lady Justice Rawal ordered that the Local Government minister and Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission prepare for a trial on the matter.
