The two women whose bodies were dumped in a field off the Isinya-Kajiado road have been identified as Nairobi residents.

One of them was a trader at Umoja estate but lived in Buru Buru, while the other was a housewife in Kayole.

Kajiado police boss Amos Owang’ said investigators were yet to unravel the motive of the killings, as statements by relatives had showed no relationship between the victims, whose home districts were Murang’a and Kiambu.

The bodies, which had deep cuts on the heads and necks, were found sprawled 100 metres apart in a field next to the Isinya-Kajiado road last Saturday.

Detectives from CID headquarters are helping the local police with investigations.

A husband and brother, who identified the victims, recorded statements with the police.

“We expect to talk to more people,” Mr Owang’ said.

The women were last seen alive by their families on Friday last week.

“The husband said he spoke to her on phone at 1pm on Friday. Her phone was switched off shortly after,” Mr Owang’ said.

The killings have raised concern since yet another woman was killed in the same style at Ngara last year. The earlier killing is yet to be solved and an officer who spoke to the Nation thought the killings were by the same gang.

Good progress

Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe confirmed the earlier killing, adding, officers investigating the cases had been instructed to “take the matter very seriously.”

They are making good progress, he said, but declined to divulge details.

Although the police, who collected the bodies put one victim’s age at 30-40 years and the other at 17-20 years, relatives said they were 41 and 42 years old.

A senior police officer, Mr Moss Ndiwa, who visited the field shortly after the killings said the crime scene showed no signs of a struggle, suggesting the execution was carried out elsewhere.

The victims had no IDs or personal effects, although their clothes were intact.
