Harsh weather alarm raised over Kenya coast

The Indian Ocean coastline in Kenya has been declared a no go zone for fishermen by the meteorological department in some parts of Coast province for the next three days following strong cyclonic winds expected in the area.
Sounding the alarm, the Deputy Director of the Meteorological department in Coast province, Mr Peter Ambeje, singled out the Malindi, Lamu and Kilifi coastlines as the most affected.
Mr Ambeje added that the immediate change of weather included heavy rains and cyclonic winds in the three coastlines resulting to raging waves.
The Beach Management Unit (BMU) heads have already issued warnings to their members to avoid the beach following storms that were witnessed on Thursday night
Meanwhile, a huge tree fell and destroyed a house at Ngala estate in Malindi district following strong prevailing winds in the district destroying property worth thousands of shillings Thursday night.
No one was injured in the incident.
