Seven Administration police officers allegedly involved in the killing of seven taxi drivers in Kawangware on Thursday morning have been interdicted and arrested as investigations into the circumstances leading to the incident began.
Internal Security minister George Saitoti on Friday said seven inquest files had been opened and several witnesses had recorded statements.
“In the meantime, all the seven Administration Police officers involved in the shooting have been apprehended and are assisting police with investigations.
“Any person, including police officers, suspected to have committed a crime in respect of the killings will be prosecuted,” Prof Saitoti said.
But as the investigations continue, a boda boda operator who was among the three people seriously injured during the confrontation with taxi drivers on Thursday morning has been tracked by police to Kenyatta National Hospital.
The man, who is in critical condition, has not been identified but his colleagues and police were scheduled to visit him yesterday afternoon for identification.
His colleague, identified as George Kamau, was slashed by the attackers in the left shoulder.
Initial police reports indicate that the APs attached to Dagoretti DC’s office responded to a distress call and found a group of 20 people attacking motorcyclists and intervened to stop the fight.
A confrontation ensued and the officers were forced to use their firearms in self defence.

There is indeed a major problem with AP and it does not need further evidence to drive this point home. AP needs to be retrained and absorbed back to regular police force to ensure that the major problems that have been associated with, like the killings of innocent people, the disappearance of lethal weapons from its armoury and landing in civilians hands, the disappearance of million of shillings from various financial institutions under their watch/escort among others. The working relations between it and regular police have been strained and this is unhealthy for forces that carry firearms.

AP force distingishes itself from main Police as autonomous. but, APs cannot prosecute and stand to give evidence in court, why? the low standards of training in LAW. APs overdo things to be seen as working better than the main Police. @yesuwangu, OCPD(kilimani)belongs to main police not AP.the Aps have their own commander within that area and is responsible for deploying them. One thing is for sure the AP needs to be absorbed into the main force for retraining. they do not get the essence and understand the value of life and property. protection.

The AP who was commanding the Killer squad of 7 taxi drivers should look at the faces of 7 widows and all those ophans which will live for the rest of their lives without a father.policemen should also think twice before taking some inhuman orders from their seniors.they can also discuss even boses make mistakes .better to save your guilt than save a JOB
