Family members of slain drug baron Ibrahim Akasha on Friday recorded a statement with the police for allegedly threatening to kill each other.

Three family members whose names police have not released are said to have recorded statements at Nyali Police Station and the Dog Section Unit in Kisauni.

Area OCPD Julius Wanjohi said the three had been accusing each other of issuing death threats for unknown reasons.

Mr Wanjohi said police were investigating the matter.

“We have invited three parties who have raised complaints and we have asked them to bring evidence by recording statements,” said Mr Wanjohi.

In danger

The fresh complaints come just one year after one of Akasha’s wives, Ms Fatma Akasha, claimed that her life and that of her family were in danger.

Fatma, who is the third wife to the slain man, early last year said she and her immediate family had been receiving death threats from a member of the extended family.

Mr Wanjohi said the family has not known peace since the death of Akasha in 2000.

Fatma had appealed for urgent intervention by the government to protect them.

“We have been living in constant fear of being maimed and even killed by one of the family members for reasons that we do not know yet the wealth of my late husband was divided equally.

Akasha was shot and killed by a lone gunman on a motorcycle in Amsterdam, Netherlands, as he walked with one of his wives.

Since then his family has been embroiled in wrangles.
