CID officer arrested for robbery

A CID officer suspected to be involved in armed robberies within Nairobi County has been arrested. The officer based at the Nairobi’s Central Division CID offices was arrested in Dagoretti during a botched robbery.

The officer who was arrested with three more suspects are also said to have robbed Mr Joseph Nasio Kangu of Sh213,000 and a camera on February 18 at around 10.30am.

Dagoretti OCPD Mathew Gwiyo said that the officer was positively identified by some of his victims.

Elsewhere, two wagons of a passenger train derailed in Kibera on Monday morning.

Kilimani OCPD Bernard Muli said that the train had eight wagons and only two derailed within Kibera’s Sarang’ombe area. No one was injured.

Murder witness dies in house inferno

A woman and and a girl were burnt to death in a fire tragedy that razed their house in Nyahururu town over the weekend.

Ms Jane Wanjiru Gachara, a witness in a murder case and her daughter only identified as Caroline, 10, were asleep when fire gutted her timber structured house which also doubled up as a shop at Maili Nne trading centre along Nyahururu - Nyeri highway.

Police are holding a suspect in connection with the incident.
