A Nigerian has been arrested allegedly with about 10 grammes of a substance believed to be heroin.

Police now want Mr Anthony Chinedu deported.

Mr Chinedu was seized at his house in Kileleshwa on Saturday when Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) officers raided the premises.

ANU head Hamsi Massa said the type and value of the substance would be ascertained on Monday.

He said Mr Chinedu was expected in court in a matter of hours.

Detectives said they would apply for Mr Chinedu’s deportation based on the weekend arrest and past cases. In the past, Mr Chinedu has successfully fought deportation attempts.

Property dispute

The Nigerian has been embroiled in a lengthy property dispute with his estranged Kenyan wife Joyce Akinyi. He told the Nation that his wife could be trying to settle scores with him through a man who was at his house at the time of alleged drug bust.

“The officers came to my place and said I owed the man some money. When I confronted him, the story changed and they forced themselves in,” he said.

Police, however, said there was a major anti-drug operation going on in the city.

On Wednesday night two men, one of them a Nigerian, were arrested in the city centre.

The first man was allegedly found with 268 grammes of heroin while the Nigerian had 20 grammes of the drug.
