City council workers will on Monday be briefed on their new role once the country shifts into the devolved system of government after the General Election.

The Transition Authority will brief the workers who will be known as county officers on expectations of their offices and efficiency in duty dispensation.

Chairman of the authority, Mr Kinuthia Wamwangi, said since the posts are new, his team found it necessary to brief the workers on their new job descriptions.

“They are supposed to know what will be required of them. How they will handle the office and expectations on revenue and budgets,” said Mr Wamwangi, adding: “A devolved system of government will be new in the country and we do not want to create confusion among the workers.”

The briefing will take place at the City Stadium in Nairobi and is meant to shed more light on the running of the county governments.

“We will inform them of what will happen once governors assume office and how they are supposed to coordinate to ensure maximum output. It’s a new concept that needs guidance,” Mr Wamwangi told the Nation.
