The death toll in Wednesday's evening road crash in Kamatira, Rift Valley has risen to 13.

Two people were still trapped in the wreckage of the bus that veered off the road and rolled several times on the Kitale-Turkana road in West Pokot.

Police said the driver of the bus, which was carrying at least 50 passengers, lost control of the vehicle.

Forty seven people who were injured in the accident are receiving treatment at Kapenguria District Hospital.
