Gunmen kill policeman in Garissa ambush

A police officer was killed on Tuesday night and his colleague seriously injured after they were attacked by gunmen along Kismayu road in Garissa town.

The officers were on patrol near the First Community Bank at around 8.30pm when they were shot by armed attackers.

Police Constable Joseph Kimutai was shot on the forehead and died on the spot.

His Administration Police counterpart Constable Erick Mutuka was shot on his arm and shoulder. He was admitted at the Garissa General Hospital.

Their G3 rifles were stolen by the attackers whose identity police have not established yet. Kimutai’s body was transferred to Matuu Nursing Home.
