A huge explosion has taken place in Garissa town near Locus hotel.

According to the Garissa County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed, the explosive material was thrown from a moving vehicle.

It is not clear what the target of the explosion was and there is still no information on casualties or injuries.

The area is now under restricted movement and the exact scene of the explosion is unknown.
