Iteere reshuffles 37 senior officers

Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere on Thursday reshuffled 37 senior officers. The move comes amidst claims of a go slow within the Police force.

Buruburu OCPD Jacinta Wasonga moves to Subukia in the same capacity and will be replaced by Hassan Barua who has been transferred from the Transit Goods Department.

Malindi OCPD David Kerina heads to Central Province as the SSP in charge of Administration. Gatundu OCPD Wellington Mboya Chokaa goes to Malindi.

Samburu West OCPD Charles Munyoki will serve as the Staffing Officer in Police headquarters while Mr Jimmy Munene becomes the Nyando South OCPD.

The new Kuria East OCPD is Gladys Ogonda who has been transferred from deputy OCPD Buuri. Meru South Deputy OCPD Maurice Asila has been transferred to Samburu Central as the Divisional boss.

Mrs Beatrice Kiraguri has been transferred from Traffic Nairobi Area to OCPD Loitoktok. Nyakach, which has a new Police division will have Mr Dismas Wanjala as the OCPD.

Ms Beatrice Gachago who has been the Deputy OCPD in Vihiga now becomes the new OCPD for the newly created Kaloleni Division.

Deputy OCPD Muranga Joseph Koech is the new Kyuso OCPD. Mr Celestino Nyaga has been moved from North Eastern Province Quarter Master to be the OCPD Loiyangalani.

The officers are expected to report to their new stations by July 29

Meanwhile, Police shot dead five armed gangsters and recovered three firearms in Wangige on Wednesday night.

Lari OCPD Joshua Opiyo said they had information on the whereabouts of the suspects and they were trailed.

"However, on sighting the police, the suspects began firing at the officers," said Mr Opiyo.

The officers, from the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) shot and killed all the five suspects in the process recovering two AK47 rifles with 37 rounds of ammunition and a Ceska pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.

A serviceable Police communication gadget was also recovered.

The thugs were driving in a Toyota NZE, believed to have been hired from a car hire firm.

Police described the five as notorious robbers and carjackers.
