Judge Nyamu faces panel in private

Justice Joseph Nyamu was the second person to be vetted on Friday by a panel determining the suitability of sitting judges.

The session was held in camera at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi where Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board is scrutinising 55 judges and more than 350 magistrates.

Justice Nyamu started his career at the law firm of Hamilton, Harrison and Mathews. He thereafter moved to the Attorney-General’s office as State counsel.

He was appointed judge of the High Court in December, 2002. Later, he was the presiding judge in the Constitutional and Judicial Review Division of the High Court of Kenya.

Justice Nyamu is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Congress of Fellows Centre for International Legal Studies.

He is a former chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya), a member of the London Court of International Commercial Arbitrations, and a former convener of the Continuing Legal Education Programme of the Law Society of Kenya.

The judge has been honoured by being listed in the International Who is Who of Professionals, 2000 Edition.

Justice Nyamu is a graduate of the University of London. He enjoys reading, writing, jogging, walking and playing table tennis.
