Kenyatta National Hospital has suspended a male nurse who was accused of defiling a patient at the institution’s burns unit.

Hospital chief executive Richard Lesiyampe said Tuesday that following the June 13 incident, the nurse was arrested and taken to Kilimani Police Station as police launched investigations.

"This is an isolated incident and the KNH fraternity believes in the care and protection of patients.

“The hospital is taking care of the patient and ensuring that she is receiving counselling and treatment for the burns that she had earlier suffered,” Mr Lesiyampe said in a statement.
