“The many internal issues we had raised were resolved over the weekend and we have resumed normal operations,” he said.

Mr Njoroge said there had been protracted negotiations with the management over “several internal issues” which the association was not willing to divulge, but had resulted to a number of flights being cancelled after the pilots failed to turn up for duty.

"With the goodwill reinstated by KALPA, we are now working expeditiously to ensure normal services resume and expect all scheduled flights today to be crewed for operations," noted Kenya Airways Chief Executive Officer, Titus Naikuni.

The issue raised concern and anger among passengers most of whom expressed their disappointment on social media forum Twitter.

The official said the brewing disagreements were an internal matter and only came out in the open following passengers show of displeasure due delayed or cancelled flights, that inconvenienced them as they had to be taken out of the airport and booked into hotels.

According to the Tweets, some passengers waited for several hours before takeoff, while some had to simply cancel their travel arrangements.

Mr Njoroge said negotiations with the management had been ongoing for the past one week and a half, but that a deal had been brokered over the weekend.
