Kibaki urges Kenyans to maintain peace

President Kibaki has urged Kenyans to maintain peace and love each other to lay a strong foundation for a prosperous nation.

He stressed that citizens from all parts of the country must maintain good relations to secure peace and unity among all Kenyan communities.

He was speaking in Kiriti Stadium, Mukurwei-ini district where he attended the burial of James Kigo Kagai, brother to First Lady Lucy Kibaki.

In his tribute to the late Kigo, President Kibaki described him as a hardworking, selfless and generous man who sought to uplift and empower the less fortunate members of the society.

The Head of State noted that the deceased was widely known for his accomplishments in business and commitment to the service of fellow citizens.

Due to his generosity and service to the community, President Kibaki said the deceased was widely known as testified by many people, from various parts of the country, who had come to console his family and bid him farewell during the journey to his final resting place.

“It is a day to say goodbye to a loved one and a hardworking Kenyan. His work, dedication and selflessness was known by every area resident and beyond," said President Kibaki.

The President assured the family of his support during this trying moment and even in future.

In his message of condolence, the Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development Njeru Githae described the late Kigo as a man who was passionately determined to assist other Kenyans.

Mr Githae noted that the deceased was very vocal on issues that touched on unfortunate members of the society adding that he was aware that Mukurwei-ini area had lost a committed servant of the people who sacrificed all for the betterment of the society.

The area MP Kabando wa Kabando extolled the late Kigo as a kind, generous and courageous person who used his position to secure every available opportunity for the youths.

He stated, “He was a social, friendly and easily approachable person.”

Mathira MP Ephraim Maina prayed that God gives the family courage and strength to bear the loss of their beloved one adding that it everyone’s way to meeting our heavenly maker.

The late Kago died at the age of 74 years and is survived by wife Esther Njoki, seven children and three grand children.

Others who attended the funeral were legislators: Ndiritu Mureithi, Aden Duale, Ferdinard Waititu, Mason Leshomo, Internal Security Permanent Secretary Francis Kimemia, and other senior government officials.
