A man in Nyamira South District committed suicide in his Mongoris home after testing HIV positive at a VCT centre.

In his suicide note to his parents, Mr Joseck Tome Makori, 23, says he does not know how and when he contracted the HIV virus and also requests them to complete the dowry ceremony for his wife.

“I don’t know where I acquired this disease from. I have died but I wish my whole family well. I plead with my mother and father not to forget to pay dowry for my wife. The money you were to buy iron sheets with, please, use it to buy two cows and pay dowry for my wife so that my genealogy can be remembered,” said Makori.

Mr Makori in his note also set Friday as his burial date.

Makori also bade farewell to his six siblings and hopes to meet them again in future “when God comes.”

The body is lying at Nyamira District Hospital mortuary.
