Mukumu Primary bus attacked in Chamgamwe

By NATION REPORTER

A bus belonging to St Mary's Mukumu Girls' Primary School was on Monday evening attacked by street boys after running out of fuel.

According to Coast PPO Aggrey Adoli, the bus had stalled near 'Bangladesh' in Chamgamwe en route to the schools drama festivals in Mombasa and was attacked by stone-throwing street boys.

"We were soon called to the scene and arrested three of the young men. Two windows were broken," he said.

Mr Adoli was unhappy with reports on social media that mistakenly described the attack as a hijacking by armed thugs. He called for action against those spreading such stories without first fact-checking with the authorities.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, although a pair of crutches was stolen from one of the teachers.
