Nairobi Mayor Geophrey Majiwa on Friday rushed to court to stop the Attorney General from prosecuting him as calls for his resignation over the Sh283 million cemetery land scandal intensified.
The mayor notified high court registrar of his intentions to sue both AG and Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) for allegedly linking him to the scandal.
He also intends to seek a court order to quash recommendations or any mention made against him in a forensic report compiled by KACC on the scandal.
According to the mayor, KACC had already charged and convicted him in the court of public opinion and what he is left with is the burden of proving himself innocent.
The mayor also expressed his frustrations with the conduct of KACC officers who have continuously searched his property and now seeks the court's intervention against such searches.
KACC obtained warrant to search his property from Kibera law courts on March 4.
Majiwa claims to have only participated at the full city council meeting of 2005, which passed the resolution to purchase the land and executing the said sale agreement on November 19, 2008 and the January 23, 2009 transfer.

Corruption will cripple kenya unless we (the wananchi) push for the prosecution of all corrupt poeople. Kenya needs a Criminal Asset Bureau, take all criminally gotten wealth.

If only politicians kept their words....what happened to the promise of zero tolerance to corruption? If it means sweeping away every single soul in the planning and financial dpts at City Hall, so be it. But who will do this for us?!!

Why dont we authorize a commission of inquiry to investigate cemetry saga, we (Kenyans) have the experiance and expertise to do so, then hand the report to the President/PM for "safe keeping" as historicaly done. Arabs have a saying, "Bint fii Sandug khabarha fii suug" literal translation, A girl in a bag but her information in the market. We Kenyans have ways and means of getting secretive information but are 'toothless Bulldogs', POLEEEEE
