Nyong'o appoints new NHIF board

Medical Services minister Anyang Nyong’o has appointed new members to the troubled National Hospital Insurance Fund August 31, 2012.

  • Members include: Medical Services Permanent Secretary Mary Ngari, Finance Permanent Secretary Joseph Kinyua, Director of Medical Services Francis Kimani, Kenya National Union of Teachers chairman Wilson Sossion.

Medical Services minister Anyang Nyong’o has appointed new members to the troubled National Hospital Insurance Fund.

In a press statement, Prof Nyong’o said the members appointed in accordance with the NHIF Act are: Medical Services Permanent Secretary Mary Ngari, Finance Permanent Secretary Joseph Kinyua, Director of Medical Services Francis Kimani, Kenya National Union of Teachers chairman Wilson Sossion and Faith-based health providers representatives, Rt Rev Michael Sande.

Others are: Kenya Medical Association chairman, Dr Elly Nyaim Opot, Non-Governmental Organisations Council representative, Ms Beatrice Kamamia, Central Organisation of Trade Unions secretary general Francis Atwoli and Federation of Kenya Employers representative, Ms Gilda Odera.

At the same time, Simon Ole Kirgotty has been appointed the NHIF acting chief executive until such time that a substantive CEO will be appointed.
