Police officers charged with murder of father and son

Two police officers attached to Muthangari Police Station have been charged with the murder on Wednesday of a father and his son at Kawangware in Nairobi.

Police Constables Durock Musili and Simon Kikwai were arraigned before Lady Justice Philomena Mwilu on Wednesday shortly before 5pm.

The two law enforcers were charged with the murder of Mr Ibrahim Ondego,46, a vegetable seller at Kawangware open market and Joseph Nyaberi, 14, who had sat for KCSE exams this year.

The suspects were however not required to plead to the charges against them.

State counsel Gladys Ruto informed the judge that the purpose of the suspects being produced in court was to inform them the nature of the charge facing them.

Further interrogation

She urged the judge to direct that the suspects be remanded at Kilimani Police Station for further interrogation.

The judge informed the suspects that the charge filed against them is that of murder.

Lady Justice Mwilu further informed them that they will be escorted to a government psychiatrist to examine their mental status before they charges are read to them.

“You will be remanded at Kilimani Police Station until December 7, 2011. You will be asked to enter pleas in the case against you when you return before me,” she directed.
