Millions of litres of highly inflammable super petrol was spilled after a government grader that was carrying out road repairs punctured a Kenya Pipeline channel in Nakuru County.

According to area deputy police boss Japeth Mwirichia the tractor cut the pipe at around 3pm in Ngata area on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

However, he said police swung into action immediately the matter was reported and cordoned off the area to prevent people from scooping oil.

But the law enforcers had a hectic time to keep off the surging crowd that was determined to scoop the petrol.

“We have contained the situation and nobody managed to scoop even a litre of the petrol,” said Mr Mwirichia.

Police blocked a section of the highway as the petrol continued to spill along the highway as well as in residential homes.
