Prosecutors named to guide Mutula death probe

A team of prosecutors has been set up in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to guide investigations into the sudden death of Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo.

The Director of Public Prosecutions Mr Keriako Tobiko said the team led by the head of department on offences on persons, Mrs Grace Murungi.

The team will "assist and guide" investigators, Mr Tobiko said on Monday.

"Further, I do direct that upon completion of these investigations, do kindly cause the resultant inquiry file to be submitted to this office for perusal and appropriate directions," a statement from his office reads.

Mr Kilonzo was found dead at his Kwa Kyelu ranch in Maanzoni on Sunday morning. (Read: Shock as Mutula found dead in bed)

The cause of death is still unknown and the post-mortem that was scheduled for Monday has now been moved to Tuesday.
