  • Detectives say they have launched investigations to find out who sent parcel to officer in Busia and why

An official of the Kenya Revenue Authority has received a chilling message via post — a decomposing human head.

Busia district CID boss Wanderi Mwangi said the incident sparked panic among revenue staff at the border down.

“Yes the parcel which was in a box was sent from Nairobi to the  officer, Mr Tom Ileve, and was delivered by G4S ... when he opened it, he found the decomposing head,” Mr Mwangi said.

He added that doctors at the Busia district hospital had been called in to examine the decomposing head.

Investigations will be launched to unravel the truth about the incident.

“We will investigate to establish who sent the ‘parcel’ and why,” the DCIO said.

Thousands of Busia residents jammed the KRA offices to see the “parcel”.

Last year, Mr Ileve clashed with clearing and forwarding agents at the border who demanded his removal accusing him of being too strict.

Mr Ileve and G4S officials could not be reached as their phones were switched off.

Wife killer arrested

In another incident, a 35-year-old man alleged to have killed his wife on Friday last week in Bomet district has been arrested.

Bomet police boss George Ali Losku said the suspect was arrested at Tenwek Mission hospital where he had been admitted after a failed suicide bid.

He is said to have killed the woman at their rural Kipanjalal village home following a family feud.

He was later said to have consumed an insecticide in an attempt to kill himself.

The woman who had deep cuts on the neck and the left jaw is said to have picked up a quarrel with her husband on Thursday night before she was attacked.

Story sounds good, though? Human head? The KRA officers play strict to pocket cash from the agents, could be one of the reasons why.
