Four guards were killed in Homa Bay town in the early hours of Monday following an armed robbery at a supermarket.

The bodies of three guards, employed by Luore security firm, were found with their throats slit and huddled together outside the supermarket.

The three were Samwel Ogola Ouko,50, Dickson Andata Agudhe,58 and Samwel Aguko, 47.

The fourth guard, Oduor Awala Ogenya, was reportedly responding to a distress call from the supermarket when he was hit with a blunt object on the head and died instantly. His body was found lying 20 metres from the supermarket.

The supermarket's proprietor Rajesh Patel said the robbers stole the weekend's sales approximately Sh 1.5 million.

They also took away mobile phones on display, a television set and four DVD machines.

Homa Bay OCPD Francis Kumut said the Police are following various leads pointing to an inside job.

"We believe that those thugs must have been led by someone who either works in the supermarket or was a former employee," said Mr
Kumut.

The four bodies are at the Homa Bay District Hospital mortuary.

Nominated MP Millie Odhiambo, who was among the local leaders at the crime scene, condemned the murders.

"I want to declare here that I will raise this issue in Parliament since it is a constitutional right of every Kenyan to be accorded security", she told a large a crowd outside the super market.
