Twenty five schools from the province had their results cancelled over what the examinations council termed as irregularities. (READ: Report lifts lid on KCSE exam cheats)

Provincial Director of Education Geoffrey Cherongis has set up a team to look into why top schools, including Kanga High School — which was elevated to a national school, St Francis Rangala Girls, Sawagongo High and Thurdibuoro Mixed had their results cancelled.

Protect integrity

“We are looking at the results of the affected schools ... we were expecting Rangala Girls to be in the top 10,” said the PDE.

He said Kanga High School, which had a mean score of 9.4, was disqualified from the ranking because one of its candidates was involved in cheating. “Knec wants to protect the integrity and credibility of the exams and that is why they introduced the tough rules,” said Mr Cherongis.

However, he assured parents and students that those who did not take part in cheating would access their results.

He said Kisumu Girls will soon be elevated to a national school.
