Nairobi PPO Moses Ombati said investigations had revealed that the three 'assassins' were hired by a key suspect, who is also wanted for this case.

However, police did not find the three phones reportedly stolen from the ambassador's residence in Runda.

The three suspects namely Alex Sifuna, Moses Kyala and a Mr Mohammed will be arraigned in court on Friday.

The case will later be consolidated with that of another key suspect in police custody, former First Secretary Dwight Saragay.

Mr Saragay was arrested and charged in August. On Monday this week, he appeared in court for a second review of his bail application but was denied until a key witness testifies.

Mr Saragay was arrested after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and the Foreign Service waived his immunity after a request by Kenya.

Ms Gimenez predecessor Ambassador Gerardo Carrillo Silva fled Kenya last March following allegations of sexual harassment by three male Kenyan employees at his official residence.

In mid-July, officials in Caracas deployed veteran diplomat Fonseca to Nairobi to take over as the Charge d’affaires but 12 days later she was found murdered.
