Tourist arrivals are expected to rise following the promulgation of the new constitution.
The Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers Coast branch chairman Titus Kangangi said the ushering in of the new law last Friday portrayed Kenya in a positive light.
The attendance of presidents from neighbouring countries would attract tourists from Africa as well, he said.
Erased bad image
According to the hotelier, the coverage of the promulgation by local and foreign media had given the country a positive image and erased the bad image that had resulted from the post-election violence.
“Kenya has generally gained fame worldwide because of the promulgation of the new constitution and we expect foreign tourist arrivals to rise remarkably,” said Mr Kangangi.
Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association boss Mohamed Hersi said the number of charter flights is expected to increase from the current 30 per week to 40 per week towards December.
