Two KDF soldiers die in action during Shabaab raid

Kenya Defense Forces lost two soldiers during a Sunday night raid on Al-Shabaab targets in night operation in Delbio and Hosingo.

KDF says that the rebel group suffered 11 casualties in the raid.

The operation was conducted jointly by KDF and their Somalia Transitional Federal Government (TFG) counterparts.

The circumstance of the deaths of the KDF were not made clear by the Army Spokesperson Major Emmanuel Chirchir who broke the news in his twitter account.

"Yesterday 22/01 @ around 2300hrs KDF/TFG conducted a raid on Al-Shabaab camp where 11 were killed others injured," Maj. Chirchir said in his tweet.

A follow update stated: "Following the raid 4AKS, communication equipments, collapsible water tank and several round of ammunition was captured."

"Out of the raid unfortunately KDF lost two of its personnel while TFG lost 1."

The government has called for unconditional release of two civil servants that were abducted by Al-Shabaab in Wajir 11 days ago.
