Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has urged the Chinese Government and the National People’s Congress to support the implementation of the new Constitution.

Mr Musyoka noted that the new Constitution devolves governance to counties, adding that there will be a lot of financial and infrastructural implications in its implementation.

The Vice-President made the remarks on Friday when he met Ms Chen Zhili, the Vice-Chairperson (Deputy Speaker) of China’s NPC, who paid him a courtesy call at his Jogoo House office.

He noted that as Kenya enters a new legal dispensation, there was need to facilitate a massive economic upturn in order to realise the aspirations of the country of attaining a middle-income status by 2030.

Raise the numbers

Mr Musyoka called for more Chinese investments in infrastructural development, as well as hotel and manufacturing sectors.

“This means our friends from China should visit in large numbers as tourists in order to raise the numbers from the current 20,000 to a few millions,” he added.

The VP applauded the growing relations between Kenya and China over the years, adding that China was the biggest partner in Africa.

VP am very much disappointed by your call to china. It will be a disaster to Kenyans if you increase the number of chinese investors in the country. The reason is, they will take over all businesses and jobs yet you promised to create more jobs for Kenyans. Look to what they have done to countries like Namibia, they have taken all retail and small businesses, leaving the locals with nothing. The Namibian gov. has now restricted them from undertaking retail and small businesses. Imagine a chinese selling sweets and mitumbas at Gikomba? Kalonzo you are joking!!

Kalonzo should exile himself abroad a bit to learn why self consideration and respect should be important to Kenyans. No dignity at all with that begging bowl mwana Kitui. As a VP Kalonzo should get Kenyans rolling up their sleeves to uphold the challenge of implementing the new law and getting the economy running without constantly taking short cuts and the easy way out soliciting foreigners.

Why is Kenya asking for help from China? China is a communist government. Should we not ask help from democratic countries such as the US or Britain? How do you figure Kalonzo? China still is communist.
