The Government on Thursday released names of people who own companies being investigated over corruption allegations in the Ministry of Water with some being associated to four relatives of Water minister Charity Ngilu.

Registrar General Bernice Gachegu, however said it would be difficult to determine the 'real’ identity of the owners as identification documents are not required during registration.

Mwende Ketethia Mwendwa who has a similar name with Mrs Ngilu’s second-born daughter, is listed as the director of Kat Michaels Consulting Limited together with Caroline Mueni Kala.

The company was registered in May 2008.

The company won a Sh1.3 million tender to supply polo shirts, caps, executive pens, carrier bags and ties to Tanathi Water Services Board.

It also won a tender to supply “big” and “small” diaries at unit costs of Sh2,500 and Sh1,500 respectively for a total of Sh800,000.

Ngotho Kasyoki Itumbuthi who is said to be Mrs Ngilu’s brother is a director of the Timetrax Limited, a company registered in August 2008.

The other director of the company is Ms Pauline Mene Munguti, a cousin of Mrs Ngilu.

Another company – Broad Vision Utilities Limited that had earlier been claimed to be owned by one of Mrs Ngilu’s relatives could not be traced from the database of registered companies and business names.

Mrs Gachegu added: “Surf ways does not appear as registered in our computer database of registered companies and business names.”

She however confirmed the existence of Surfways Construction Company Limited whose directors are Antony Kikuvi Munguti and Stella Wanza Mumo.

G.L William does not also feature in Registrar of Companies computer index.

However, there is GL Williams Consulting Ltd owned by Mwenda Lunde, Billy Anjele, Gideon Mbai and William Anderi.

Ndenca Enterprises could also not be found the Registrar’s records, which however captures Ntheca Enterprises by Susan Mbathia and Carol Mbete.

Afri-Trade Enterprises could also not be found but the records reflected Afri Trade as a business operated by Reuben Ndegwa, Patrick Ng’eny and Mohamed Ismail.

Pressure Point System also missed in the index which instead shows a business - Pressure Point Systems that belongs to James Watta.

Kenmas Contractors and Suppliers Limited has its directors as Paul Otieno Oloo and Hellen Akinyi Otieno while Evalyne Chepkirui Chelule and Rosemary Chemutai run Gincom Contractors Limited.

Although Ebrahims Mohamed Kassam General Contractors could not be traced, Ebrahims Mohamed Kassam General Contractors is listed being run by Ebrahim Mohamed Kassam and Fatuma Mohamed from Kitui.
