ADDIS ABABA, Sunday

Ethiopian government, which last month announced its intention to pull out its troops from Somalia by the end of this year, has now hinted it could extend deployment of its force to help AU peacekeepers.

Ethiopian government expressed its readiness to allow “a few days” for African Union peacekeepers (Amisom) to take over security posts.

Ethiopian foreign ministry said yesterday Addis Ababa had accepted its moral obligation to Amisom and it would do whatever necessary to see that its withdrawal did not harm Amisom.
