Guinea team to probe rights abuses

The Guinean military junta has published the names of 15 members of the independent commission to investigate last month’s massacre of an estimated 150 civilian protestors and other crimes committed in the country since the advent of the government on December 23, last year.
They include the assistant director for the country’s human rights watchdog, Mr Mamadouba Keita; assistant director general of the Office for Legal Studies and Reform Cécé Loua and assistant director general of the Legal Documentation Centre Mme Yayé Ramatoulaye Diallo.
The others include inspector general of Legal Services Mme M’mah Soumah, Legal Inspector Moussa Kourouma, Attorney of the second largest capital of Labé Siriman Kouyaté, and Attorney of Mamou Bailo Diallo.
Two medical doctors including Hassan Bah and Oumar Taibata Baldé as well as two private law professors, Soriba Mory Kanté and Francis Charles Haba, are also in the team. Guinean has been under pressure to probe last month’s massacre.
